The New Year has not been kind to our run times as we bring another big one at you talking about the 2013 Winter Classic, the turmoil in Montreal, Ovechkin's suspension and how it plays into the All-Star Game. Then we go in depth on the Sharks looking at each game since our last podcast and noticing the patterns that have sprung up during the past two weeks.

In our first podcast of the 2012, we talk about the realignment that will no longer happen. We look around the league at the state of the NHL at the midway point of the season. We bash the All Star game a little bit, then take a look back at the Winter Classic and look at its possible future as the Sharks may play Detroit next year. If that happens what might a Sharks alumni team look like? That helps us jump back to the present and take a look at how the Sharks have been playing recently. Then one more look ahead to the Sharks upcoming schedule.

Strap in because it's going to be a long ride today as we have a lot to talk about. We talk about realignment, coaching changes, concussions, and the Sharks recent highs and lows.

We talk about about the GM meetings and relate some of the more talked about aspects of those meetings to some recent events in the NHL. Then we talk about the Sharks homestand and look forward to the final game against Detroit and then the mini road trip that follows along with the games shortly following that.

We discuss some of the strange standings early in the season. As well as some of the players that are on inexplicable rolls. We then check in on those that have suspended since our last podcast. We finish off talking about the Sharks going 5-1 on their roadtrip as well as talking about a few individual players.

We talk about how the Wheel of Justice has been replaced with a smart, tempered system and what Brendan Shanahan is doing right when it comes to the suspensions being levied around the league. We laugh at Sean Avery being waived. We preview the Sharks going into Saturday's home/season opener against Phoenix. The surprise play of Tommy Wingels and Brad Winchester. And we guess who might get their jersey retired first in San Jose.

As the season approaches we flip up the format a little for this episode as we start chatting about the Sharks as the teams heads into their first pre-season game of the 2011/2012 season. Then we take a look around the rest of the NHL. We close by touching upon the tragedies that have happening in the hockey world since our last podcast.
